Emerson?
The thing that strikes me about Emerson, who it seems is about to sign, is that he is 28 and has not yet played 200 games. How?

Weird, I see Emerson as miles quicker than Cresswell, in fact his pace is his only attribute. OK on the ball, quite attacking without really threatening, loves running down a blind alley, not great at defending. Looks game though, and isn't Cresswell so I'm IN.

Re: Emerson?
We needed a left back/ wing back with pace and our wonderful manager and scouting team managed to pick out the only one on the market marginally quicker than Cresswell.

Good feet, skillful but not much pace.

A perfect agent signing in other words.

Re: Emerson?
Defensively suspect but better with Nayef backing him in a three
Useful pace and moments of quality attacking

Not the best but the best we have there now

Re: Emerson?
He is ok when we play a back 3. I don't like the way he lets players past him a bit too easily but he is one of few players who will try and carry the ball. I'd stick with him over Cresswell currently on the basis that he is quicker and we need pace in the side.

Alf - Yea, he also strikes me as a confidence player. Hopefully we haven't done our money on him after all.

What about Mr Whippy, any hope for him?

Re: Emerson?
He has not had regular first team football for a long while. It takes a few games ( as many as 5 ) to get up to match fitness levels, get with the pace and get your timing and decision making up to speed. Also in a role that suits him.

All the above now in place so he now looks decent. He can pass accurately, is reasonably quick and no longer wasteful.

Technically he’s a good footballer. But defensively he’s got a touch of the Masuaka about him.

Belated appreciation.

Re: Emerson?
Was maybe written off too soon by the majority and may well turn out to be decent business, now he is getting a run in the side and doing okay, without pulling up any trees?

Looks like he has now replaced Cresswell, or maybe that would depend if we go with a 3 or a 5?

Aaron Copland composed Fanfare for the common man, very good but I prefer Appalachian Spring.

Re: Emerson?
Typical case of Chelsea buying a young player and them disappearing into the squad.

Went to Chelsea as a 23 year old having just played 25 games in the season before for Roma, and barely played since.

Most games he's had in a season for anyone was last year for Lyon (29).

At least he should be 'fresh'!

I think it's because he hasn't played in 200 games.

Maybe there should be a fanfare for the coming man
